Cost for air conditioner replacement

What is a fair price for 2 ton, 14 seer air conditioner replacement? If you want specifics:
- Install digital 7 day programmable thermostat.
- A new custom designed supply air plenum. We will reconnect all the existing ducts to the plenum and make sure they are properly sealed with mastic.
- A new custom designed return air plenum/transition.
- A 5” pleated filter box will be installed at the indoor unit. This will make your system more energy efficient and the filter will only need to be changed twice a year.
-A weather resistant pad will be installed under the condenser. Due to the size of the new condenser, we will put it on the right side of the downstairs condenser.
- Vent pipe will be properly sized and installed for the new furnace and the downstairs gas furnace. A professional roofer will be used to install the roof jack, cap, collar, and flashing.
- We will install a Ceiling Saver kit under the indoor unit. This includes a full emergency drain pan, two safety switches, and stands to keep the unit level.
This will help protect you from water damage should your unit ever develop a water leak.
- We will properly connect all drain lines, gas lines, and high and low voltage electrical connections per code as needed.

I would hope so.

Not sure about pricing where you're at, but in 2014, my wife and I had a 3.5 ton 14 seer installed in our house in Tuscaloosa - which included removal of old unit - for a little over $6,000.

I don't see where you specify the brand of unit that they will install. also, assuming the unit heats as well, is that a gas unit and if so, what is the efficiency of the gas unit.

One 2 ton, 410a, 14 SEER Amana air conditioning and gas heat system.
2) This Amana system comes with a 10 year parts, compressor, and coil warranty per the manufacturer.

$9K strikes me as just a tad on the high side, but it looks like they will do a pretty decent install, which is supremely important.
do they specify any type of annual service plan after the initial install or would that be extra?

2 year service maintenance

That's high. Last year I paid 7500 for a Ruud 2 stage 4 ton. Another company quoted amana and it was really high also. Like 12 or 13k for similar unit to what I got. Get another quote.

that is worth a few hundred dollars.
are there any extenuating circumstances ...is the attic unit a particularly long distance from the attic stairs?...will the attic unit fit through the existing attic door?....

Any suggestions on Northshore companies?

I paid 8K in 2007 for a Lennox 21 seer, two stage system, for a 2500 sq ft house. My previous AC must have been really inefficient as I noticed my electric bill (all electric home) went down about 60- 70 bucks a month immediately. I keep it on 75 all the time and have been very happy with it. It runs in low speed except for the hottest summer afternoons.
