I've never really needed it since I typically work by myself and do smaller jobs. But I got some jobs through a company in Ohio ad they require a 1,000,000 policy.

Just curious as to who you use and around about what it costs you.

TIA

I don't handle the valuation of providers, but we have been with travelers for awhile. We are a mid-sized company in a couple of different fields but do work with major corporations so our limits are in line with what they want for contractors, Thank God I don't have to write the premium check every year.

Travelers. By far the easiest to deal with.

Just got off the phone with travelers and they don't offer the single policy I need.

They said I needed two policy's

From time to time ill have employees like when I'm hiring a roofing job,but for just standard repairs, flooring, showers, Patch roofs, carpentry, I just work by myself and don't want to be paying two policy's.

Travelers is horrible.

Hopefully, you never have a claim, but if you do, they are like crime.

Well in all honesty I haven't ever had to work on insurance for that small of an operation. Im surprised that they would require you to have to policies though. Did they say why?

State Farm 2 million general liability. Costs about $900 a year. We're starting to do some bigger buildings in DC and our insurance costs will go up. Some of these buildings have ridiculous insurance requirements.

Ummm...in case he fricks something up.

Just because he may be doing smaller jobs doesn't mean his mistake couldn't still mess up a whole house. No company in their right mind is going to let someone fix a roof or something on a property without a GL policy in place. Imagine if the roof leaks and causes thousands in interior damage and mold remediation. That's just one concern.

ETA: To OP...if you want a GL policy that will cover roof work, you better prepare your booty hole.

That seems awfully cheap.

You ought to have someone with insurance experience look at that.

I wonder what his classification is, though. That's makes a huge difference.

Depending on what kind of work you do this policy will vary from $750 to over $2000.

Call a broker and have them shop it around.

They probably just want loss experience.

This.

Also, at why the GC would have the sub require COI.

I think I know a bit about what he does.

That's way lower than what we pay and all we touch are keyboards.
