The “W” in WIAA technically stands for “Wisconsin” but it should really stand for “Whining.”

The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association has banned high school students from chanting certain words and phrases at basketball games, and none of them are remotely close to being hurtful or inappropriate.

quote:

The following words were reportedly included as examples:

• “Fundamentals”
• “Sieve”
• “We can’t hear you”
• “Air ball”
• “You can’t do that”
• “There’s a net there”
• “Scoreboard”
• “Season’s over” (during tournament play)

The news only came to light when high school athlete April Gehl tweeted her criticism, with some profane language, about the rule changes. She was suspended by her school as a result.

Gehl is a true hero for bringing these rules to light. In what state is a 16-year-old kid yelling “Airrrrr-ballllll” considered something that’s so disrespectful it needs to be banned? How is reminding the other team that you need to improve your fundamentals a bad thing? Who even chants “There’s a net there” anyway?

"Sieve"...

Really!?

You can kill babies and make the taxpayers pay for it but you can't chant "scoreboard" at a game.

Yup. That makes total sense in

If you want a good example of this, check out the Rant after a loss or an Alabama win.

so if a student section with 100 kids all chants "air ball", what will be the consequences?

"Foul" is a pretty harsh sounding word and could hurt feelings.

They should call it a "fluffy" from now on.

While I agree that "Foul" is a damaging word to young impressionable minds, I think a better terminology than "Fluffy" could be found.

How about "Unintentional Personal Contact". Since we KNOW that it was unintentional, we could start by having the offender apologize publicly to the victim before he takes his penalty shots.

TRIGGER WARNING!

We need to remove that dangerous terminology from the game altogether.

What I find entertaining is the people who are usually complaining about the pussification of a certain generation are usually either A) the generation who raised the pussies or B) the turds that are making the overly sensitive rules.

What are you even saying? The only people in your mind who can complain about the pussification of a generation are the grandparents or children of that generation?

1. Population/demographic control
2. Deterioration of values
3. The slow dissolve of free speech

All tools of the Marxist movement. This makes perfect sense of you are paying attention.

There are usually small children attending high school basketball games.

They should NOT be subjected to hearing the word "scoreboard" chanted.

They may get the wrong idea that athletes are trying to win the game thus eliminating the good intentions of participation trophies.

Well it is in Wisconsin, so those odds are pretty good.
