Concerning grade inflation

I constantly hear my nieces and nephews brag about how well their children are doing in school... She made all A's! He made all A's except for one B!
OK, I know these children... and they're really not exceptionally bright... just average kids.
When my own son graduated from high school there were THIRTEEN valedictorians, all of whom scored nothing but A's during their entire high school years. My son wasn't one of them... somehow despite all the upward pressures he managed to get a couple of B's.
Back in my day an A used to mean something. It had to be earned. You had to know 95% of challenging material, with no curve, and the smart kids with the good grades were a bit resented. There's no more cause for resentment when everybody scores the same. I want grade resentment. I want to be able to tell the strivers from the connivers, the achievers from the deceivers, the studiers from the buddiers.
Down with grade inflation! When my sister tells me her grandson is a great student I want to know for sure that he is.

Why? I'd much rather stick a knife in my eye than agree with Rex but all of us have......uh......non-genius relatives.

OK, I know this Godfather1... and he's really not very bright... just a below average stalker.

Yeah what a POS move to say that about your own kin

You aren't for free distribution of grades?

You keep telling yourself that.
It doesn't make you any less of a horrible person.
Incidentally, let's just assume for one second that you're right about these kids. Did it occur to you that maybe they just work harder to get their grades? Are you around them 24/7 to know?

What's so horrible about it?
Some kids are just average in school.

To be fair, they probably don't think much of him, either.

Hmmm, so Rex doesn't like when success is diluted by mediocrity to ensure everyone feels good about themselves even though they didn't earn it?
Irony?
Irony?

Stop being a pussy. Rex is right. My kids' mamas have advanced degrees and one was a valedictorian. My fricking kids are smart. When I see chicks posting their kids' honor roll shite from LP public schools and I remember for a fact their mama was a dumb arse GED getting skank in HS, It kinda rustles me jim-jims.
eta: I presume you know I'm a smart fricker too. since you like to flame me in posts, you cocksucker you.
eta2: I wasn't talking about relatives.

so you're mad that your generation was retarded? Remember, it's your generation that's in the administrative positions which are setting the standards; not the idiot children taking the classes.

Normal bell curve distribution has most people in the middle. The genius and dumb groups are at each extremes of the curve and in the minority.
However grading is skewed. So i guess OP issue is that it's not representing reality. So what's the problem with that? Maybe average kids will grow up and expecting more in life and may get disappointed.
