The only thing in the medical literature with good data for helping colds is zinc supplementation.

Once, in a similar situation (just barely noticing that I was going to be getting a cold soon) I accidentally autoclaved my face. The cold disappeared instantly, along with the surface layer of skin on my nose. So, give that a try.
