No. The reason they brought it up is the so-called racist connotation of the word since apparently a plantation owner's wife was often called Ole Miss. Your argument is flat out retarded. Why should I give a frick about people too stupid not not realize that the University of Mississippi is Ole Miss? I'd rather keep them off campus then on.
You should give a shite if you want your schools brand to be more well known. Having multiple names makes it more difficult and confuses people unfamiliar with the school.
Again, I'm not saying Ole Miss is bad, just that you should go with one or the other purely from a marketing perspective.
If Ole Miss is so great then rename the school Ole Miss.
On top of that, IT DOESNT EVEN SAY DO AWAY WITH OLE MISS
It only says to promote University of Mississippi along with Ole Miss.
