Typical FB bullshite getting shared around the country.

As far as my friends who saw combat/have dealt with some pretty harsh PTSD stuff this deal has them all (every one of them) severely pissed off. Their sentiment is: "Yes, I have some issues but that doesn't mean everyone else needs to change what they are doing because of them. Furthermore, whining about fireworks on the 4th makes all veterans (PTSD sufferers or not) look like assholes."

I would honestly expect that the guys with these signs never saw a weapon fired in anger. As noted by others, the ones who saw and lived through the really bad things tend to be the ones who won't talk about it and don't want you to know they were there.

shite like this man....You wouldn't know the guys who have truly "been there, done that"..They don't put up signs in their yard, or call the media when they have an issue with the way someone else runs their business..They don't say "look at me, I have PTSD"..
They deal with it..They move on...
Unfortunately, some of them cannot deal with it and make tragic decisions..This should be the issue at hand, not fireworks in my neighborhood

As a non combat vet I'm a little confused by this, as it seems like a look at me attempt.

Seems like this is the way of a lot of the recent vets (not all of them so don't get pissy). Not like the older generation. I have family that you would never know served vs younger associates of mine that are douchey about it.

I don't know, man. I want to rip doors off the hinges in my house when people slam them. shite spikes my adrenaline and I go into that fight or flight mode. I'm pretty good about not flipping out anymore, especially in front of my kids, but it's still there.

That's just me though. I'm sure smells can set people off too.

I didn't know my Grandfather was in the Army until a few years before he passed..I have a box of his medals now, but I'll never know what all he did to get them...

Same goes for my wife's Grandfather..She never knew he was at Iwo Jima, and that is about all she knew..

I have no doubt, they saw some shite, but they didn't put up a sign in their yard to let everyone know

This is more accurate. However, I'm amazed at the lack of respect for this. Having seen my brother go through it firsthand, it is a real thing.

Every one of you assholes on here saying this is for attention should be down on their knees thanking whatever they believe in they didn't have to go through or see some of the shite these people saw or lived on a regular basis. I'm right there with you. We will never know what it is like and have absolutely no business ever trying to figure out if what it is like because we didn't live it and don't have the slightest clue what it is like to face death and destruction on a daily basis and the mental and physical strain it puts on a human. frick you for even thinking you have the slightest clue in comprehending this.

edit: Not directed at Terd, just everyone else who doesn't get it.

Reminds me of when I went to see "Jarhead" in the theater in Monroe. Two guys showed up wearing their Marine BDU's and then hung around the outside the theater having a smoke and just waited for everyone that just saw the movie to start pouring all over them. Huge douchers.

I saw these guys.

Only thing I could see it being is mimicking gunfire, therefore triggering some type of reaction.

I don't know really. Kind of grasping for straws. Just a thought, though.

Yes.

Like I said, our neighborhood blows shite up on the 4th, and for most of the week leading up to the 4th. It's not just me and my "need". It's what we do and what we have done for at least the last decade (basically since the neighborhood's existence). Fireworks are going off in every direction - it's really pretty cool.

That said, our neighbors had a newborn a couple years ago, and we moved down the block a bit - considerate, right?.

It seems a lot more feasible than trying to take away others enjoyment.

a neighborhood is probably the last place you want to be if your this guy. Go for a drive in the mountains, see a movie, go to a concert, hell idk.

the sounds of fireworks and combat are not really the same. to be honest, the sound of two trains locking together grabs my attention faster than a firecracker. that shite sounds like rocket impact.

I doubt he'd put this sign in his front yard though... am I right?

The guys you're talking about don't cry out for attention. They think they can deal with their demons on their own and sometimes it ends up defeating them. Their stoicism can be their downfall.

Those are the guys that need attention but don't ask for it. We have failed as a society in reaching out to them and at least trying to get them the help they need. Yard signs aren't going to fix it.
