I have coached for probably 8 years in flag and tackle football.....Tee Ball and Baseball...why do parents treat REC/Travel coaches like complete shite and bitch about everything you do?...why are these always the same parents that don't lift a finger to support the team through fundraisers and parties?....or even support their kid...by practicing in the backyard etc.?

I am so frustrated this season with parents who think little Jonny is going to be in the NFL and is awesome at football even though little Jonny cannot block a wet paper towel!

I try to do the mandatory play time thing.....I really do...but if the kid sucks...even after being coached and taught over and over what to do...why should I hurt the team and the ones who care and try really hard by having Sucky McSuckerson out there for his minimum time not doing shite but looking like he sucks....

jerseys, helmet stickers, trophies, parent t shirts, coaches t shirts, UM...COACHING THE GAME...3-4 nights a week of practice...endless texts, managing the team app, fundraisers, etc...then I have to get bitched out too?..cause your child sucks and you waited until he was 12 to put him in tackle football?..is that my fault that he isn't where he should be?...is it my fault he can't tie his own shoes at 12? (literally)...you blame me for his self esteem issues Dad?...maybe YOU are the fricking problem...not me...the VOLUNTEER youth sports coach who does this thing like its a part time job...for FREE...

a-hole parents man....worst thing about coaching.

no one wants to put up with the trouble.

I suggest you say something to the parents involved. Unless they post here and realize they are the problem, they won't change their behavior.

You will never get rid of all the parent problems. But I will say if there is a minimum playing time rule, then abide by it. If u don't like the playing time rule in that league, go coach in a different league.

its too early for me to go postal on parents...cause if I did I will then have to keep dealing with the BS for the rest of the season making my entire fall horrible and shitty...more than it is right now...this one Dad...I really want to punch him in his face and let him know his boy is soft because of him...and his lack of being a good father...it is so obvious this kid never touched a football until this year and that is Dad's fault...get out and throw ball on a pretty day with your boy and get that kid off the damned xbox and maybe he wouldn't be such a wimp....but i guess it easier to blame me though...

Keep mentioning to the kids go home and practice. I would also say it any time the parents would gather around as a group that individual skills like catching have to be worked on at home. That way u can say it without having to deal just with that parent.

nope...that isn't the issue..I abide by the rule and actually get the least amount of complaints filed on me...and I know that for a fact cause I asked...I will play a kid his mandatory time if he is slow or small...but lazy?...not giving a frick?...too dumb to comprehend his one job?...his one battle that he has to win?...that is when I'm like nope....cause I have kids out there giving blood, sweat. and tears for their team and then dumb dumb over there watches like a spectator while HIS man just sacked my QB

It's the coaches who think my son is better than he is, They put him in positions that they never taught him how to play and just hope he can carry them. It's too much pressure. He's missing a tournament this weekend...says he needs a break.

I coach my kids in multiple sports. I'd say about 5% of the parents are like you're describing. The rest a cool. Or at least tolerable. You just have to block the assholes out.

As for play time in tackle football, the kid doesn't get to play until he's ready to get hit.

There is no way to get around a mixed bag of kids in rec ball. All u can do is "hide" them as best as possible.

I agree that it is tough to coach kids that don't really want to be out there.

Why would you even put yourself through that? The younger generation of parents today are delusional, spoiled assholes. They think the entire world revolves around them and their wants and needs. Life is too short for that shite.
