Didn't live in the area, but I agree, re House of Lee.
My family and my uncle's family would go there several times a year and i always laughed at a cousin of mine when she would order a hamburger. That is all she would eat while we were eating mandarin duck. That was my favorite1

there will never ever never be a Chinese restaurant as good as this... Our Family basically had our own table...We went so often that Davis and Virginia would always sit down and eat dinner with us whenever we ate there.

House of Lee was awesome. I was there getting take out one night with my grandmother and Davis took me to a table at the back and introduced me to Harry Lee.

sclafanis was good back in the day too..

Service Merchandise

This used to be called Wilson's before Service Merchandise. It was right across the street from Shoney's.

The Do Drive in was right behind Rosa Avenue.

We used to go upstairs in my uncle's garage and you could see the movies playing. Don't remember hearing any sound from there.

What was the name of that Italian restaurant on Vets that used to make the ceasar salad and bananas foster at the table? Can't remember if they closed before or after Katrina, but that place was always good

We would ride bikes from Power Blvd all the way to coconut beach to dive off the bridge during the summer. Damn that was fun.

And one time even the times picayune caught us all diving off the power line bases out near where the treasure chest is parked now. Plastered our picture on the front page. Local kids "Power Diving" to cool off. Those were the days.

There was a Nicks in Metairie as well, with the shot board. It was on Veterans past Clearview and was torn down so David's Bridal could be built. We'd drink there all the time when we were in high school when we didn't feel like going Uptown.

Adult bar that eventually became (according to some here) a teen "bar".

You talking about the one by the uhaul place? I went there a couple of times in high school around 01-02, and had fun. When I moved to BR, I think it changed to a teen club
