this is crazy because the entire area is a flood zone

No, it's not. Actually most of central was just rezoned in the last month or so to be OUT of a flood zone.

Wow... that fricking sucks.

A lot of people in Central just cancelled, or were in the process of cancelling their flood insurance.

My parents literally cancelled it the week before the storm.

Pretty much worst timing ever.

A lot of the people we got out by boat were saying the same thing. Timing sucked on this one.

Just wondering? Can you get flood insurance if you are not in a flood zone?

I dont have it but live on one of the highest points in Tuscaloosa so I doubt I would ever need it.

Yep. I renewed in June but my neighbor dropped contents the week before the flood. Would be awesome if he can go back and add but I think it's just for people who completely dropped coverage.

What happens when non engineers want to be engineers by seeking to lower flood elevations so they can develop the land cheaper.

FEMA may come in and change maps again on them.

Comite hills? I'm lucky.. I live in comite hills west, and don't have flood insurance and wasn't required to. I didn't flood but quite a few in my subdivision did.

Pretty close to there. On the Lovett side near Stabs. I'm off of Magnolia Beach Rd. Their whole neighborhood looks like every house threw up in the street. I actually have to go through the new neighborhood to pick up my daughter from my mom bc of all the debris. It's basically one car through at a time right now.
