Here are some random thoughts/observations.

Through my own selfish actions our marriage almost ended a few times. When you have two people there are going to be conflicts. Do not bury them, resolve them in love. Admit that you are not always right and it does not have to always be your way. Learn to admire your spouse's strengths and play to them. She should feel loved and protected (again - a failing on my part) in order to blossom. Communication is key. Work off the premise you do not understand and want to. In other words, "Seek to understand then be understood." You have to demonstrate respect for each other as human beings. When you despise your spouse (for the smallest of reasons) it is easy to justify your behavior.

Heading off to church right now to celebrate with our two children. Thanks for the well wishes!

ETA: Find ways to enjoy life together. My wife loves our dogs so I make it a point to get home from work early enough to walk them with her in the park. Just a small way of telling her "I love you."

And every human has flaws. That other person who is promising you a better life has flaws as well. Don't fall for that trap. Water your own lawn.

Have to say, at my initial thought was 'What's the point of this thread?', but your follow up post was extremely nice to read. Bravo sir.

As a part of a long successful marriage and a shorter failed marriage I can say these are pearls of wisdom.

A wise man.

My previous pastor and spiritual mentor gave us a small sheet of paper to put on the fridge with three phrases that are the key to a lasting relationship, not just necessarily a marriage.

I was wrong.
I'm sorry.
Please forgive me.

Wolf
Congrats
Mrs Lepew and I made 37 in April

My biggest effort in these years has been making sure everyone see how much we care for each other, not just speaking it, fwiw....
