CBD schedule 1
Posted by Rust Cohle on 12/17/16 at 11:07 am33
I haven't seen anyone mention this in the last couple days. On Thursday, the DEA made CBD, the non-psychoactive cannabinoid extracted from marijuana a schedule 1 alongside of heroin. Rolling stone magazine
I understand why it happened, marijuana is federally illegal in the country, and the only way to get the extract legally would be to import it in. The DEA is so antiquated with their policies on marijuana, and all drugs for that matter.
They want to schedule it if it has no medical benefit, but they also want to schedule it if does have medical benefit.
Why does alcohol and tobacco get a pass? Is it really just money from lobbyists?

Clearly one of these things ISN'T happening

No. It's also greed from the prison industrial complex. I'm sure I'll remember more reasons after I have some coffee.

The incentive structures for people in other vice sectors, in police unions, in corrections unions, from pharmaceutical companies, bureaucrats in the DEA, and consequently, politicians, means that it will change only very slowly and without any common sense involved.

CBD is perfectly legal in CO, WA, AK, and the other states that have legalized recreational use. I got some CBD oil in CO last summer and it's fantastic. Overall body relief without getting your head in the clouds
the federal marijuana laws are propped up by law enforcement unions and pharmaceutical companies, as well as the vast government infrastructure devoted to the war on drugs. nothing will change there until more states grow a set of balls

Absolutely absurd. Even more absurd than marijuana itself being schedule 1.

Well this is disheartening.
EDIT:
Hopefully it's just the Drug Endorcement Agency's Hail Mary justification for employment.

How does that equate to TODAY'S news? You realize last summer the DEA hadn't made this classification yet, right?

I am not particularly familiar with this kind of thing...are you saying that you have some kind of marijuana-based oil that you can apply to your skin to relieve symptoms, but there is no euphoric effect?

There are trans-dermal CBD patches for chronic pain illnesses.
Users don't get loopy, they become pain free.
EDIT: My mother had a prescription for Fentanyl patches. It made her loopy, unintelligible and downright ornery at times.
I seriously considered risking jail time to get CBD patches for her.
Moot point, as she passed away in May.

Don't worry. Trump and his billionaire friends will fix it!

This will get to Prohibition level hijinks if the government doesn't wise up. So stupid. I have personally witnessed people who viewed marijuana as "the devil" do a complete 180 when it helped someone they love who has cancer.

THC is already schedule 1, and it's legal in recreational states
CBD was just added, but it's no different now than THC
The transdermal patches are awesome, the main brand I think is "Mary's"
My wife uses them for RA and gets good relief without harmful side effects

First the CBD, next Tremé.
fricking Feds!

But hey, it has no medical benefit. Seriously, if they are lying to the citizens about cannabis, then what else are they lying to us about?
re: CBD schedule 1Posted by Rust Cohle on 12/17/16 at 3:17 pm to DawgGONIT
Yeah, and in the same breath the DEA will say well if you're claiming it does heal or treat illness then it needs to be scheduled and regulated by the government.

The CBD I get comes from hemp, thus no THC. I know of various people using it for arthritis, peripheral neuropathy, osteoporosis, and fibromyalgia. I use it for epilepsy. I get it from the Colorado Hemp Institute in Ft. Collins. You won't get high but do enough and you'll be very relaxed. It's a neuro-protectant, helps the brain.
