Have a 2002 freightliner with the 350 cat engine. The problem I'm having is the truck will idle just fine but when you get on the road it kills after about 5-10 minutes and won't restart until it cools for awhile. I've changed out the fuel pump, fuel lines and filters and it still does it.

Any insight is appreciated.

Well the problem you're having is that it's still in the larval stage.

It's only a good troll if you have half a clue about what you are talking about.

So, Diesel Dan, tell us....this "350 Cat" you have- that's displacement or what?

How does it die? Does it starve for fuel, or does it just shut off entirely? Either way I'd lean towards a fuel related issue initially--which it sounds like you have addressed. Failing that, it sounds like an electronic issue which may be recorded on the onboard computer. Assuming it was built in the past decade or so.

I always preferred the Pete with a four and a quarter Cat. The drivers seem to like them.

Loosen the fuel tank cap and try it, sounds like you may have a tank venting issue.

Not yet.

The model number is 3126. I think it's a Detroit 7.2 made for Cat.

Sounds like it is suck g air into the fuel system somewhere. Have you checked all fittings and gaskets? If not fuel then it must be a injector pump issue.
If it equipped with a primer pump check that first. I haven't worked on them for a long while but 3208 cats were bad about sucking air at the primer pump
