There were a number of losers during the weekend of turmoil in Baton Rouge. Whose fail was the most epic? Feel free to include write-ins who are not mentioned here...

1) The Black Panthers. They rode in on a bus on Saturday, walked around with guns for a while, and demanded that Kip Holden resign as mayor and that the officers be fired. They were never heard from again after Saturday, and Kip and the officers still have a job.

2) DeRay McKesson. BLM movement leader from Baltimore. Was here long enough to get arrested, then gave up the next day and went home to Baltimore, where apparently he is equally unwelcome.

3) The out-of-town-ers in general. They tried such shenanigans as antagonizing the police and attempting to shut down major highways and the Mississippi River Bridge. Each time they were met with brave resistance by Louisiana's finest...

4) The lady who lives downtown in the house were protesters were arrested on Sunday. She got all bent out of shape when the cops entered her home to make an arrest. Some evil-doers had committed a crime and the cops chased them to her property. She apparently thought this was a big game of "freeze tag" and when the law-breakers got to her property, that they were in a safe haven from the police. Lt. Jonny Dunham of the Baton Rouge Police Department said the protesters were arrested for previously breaking the law by obstructing a public passage by trying to get on an interstate on-ramp. “Once you’ve broken the law, there is no safe space.”

Edit to add:

5) The economic boycott of the mall, Wal-Mart, etc. by leaders of the local NAACP, the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and the Nation of Islam. That seemed to have ZERO effect on anything.

My vote is for the Black Panthers. What a disappointing showing. Must have been a long bus ride back to wherever they came from after such a weak showing here.

I'm going to go with #2, it seemed to set the tone early of how the trouble makers were going to be handled.

How about the national media, who did their best to hype BR as another ferguson waiting to explode.

I'd have to go with the Black Panthers. They were forced off of the road and into standing around in a BREC park.

All of them. They all should be embarrassed for what went on these last few days. I hope more cities start treating them the way Baton Rouge did. You can have a protest but the second you get out of line or start blocking roads you are going to get shut down

Agreed...and the Black Panthers fell under this umbrella also. I don't think either of the above knew what they were getting into with our LEO

I didn't blame BR cops at all. I just said Dallas lost the most in retaliation for shite that happened in BR and Minnesota.

DeRay went back home with his tail between his legs like a scolded puppy. I would have liked to have been a fly on the wall at the EBRP jail.

The really hilarious thing is, she rents that house. It's not even her property.

Nation of Islam preachers that told black people at 2am to stop spending money on things. I think they left at 2:17am never to return
