In today's fat America, everyone keeps blaming carbs, sugar, etc for all this weight gain. But why is this just a problem now? Back in the 50's people ate whatever they wanted and everyone wasn't fat. Basically, why are carbs making us fat now but not back then?

They also didnt sit behind a desk playing on their iphones all day. You can eat what you want when you have to man up and actually do work to make a living

Many women back then were housewives and cared for the children and didn't work outside of the home. Housework back then was actually more work...didn't have as many modern conveniences to help with housework then. Also....as was mentioned...less processed food.

Crossfit wasn't as complex back then.

They didn't even have roids. At the most, milk was your go to supplement for packing on mass and making #Gainz.

Smoking was much more common as well, probably also contributing to lack of weight gain.

Different portions, a lot had blue collar job's where they actually burned calories, they also did their own gardening and home upkeep.

Also they didn't have a ton of boxed and bagged food.

Dessert was a once a week treat not a nightly occourance.

Over all wealth of the country. Back then, most of the country was still poor, and they grew most of what the ate. Carbs and sugar were in check in term of portions. Now, even our very poor have access to baked goods, mass produced cereal, fast food, etc.

People back then were also more likely to be ashamed if they were obese. Fatties at school got bullied. Fat acceptance did not exist.
