Went riding around with some friends after to run a few errands and when I got back my car would not start. Tried to jump and it almost got there but no go. I've never worked on a car in my life. Should I try changing the battery myself, is it easy to do? I hate to pay big money for a tow and then the battery replacement on top of that. What would the OT do? Unfortunately I do not have AAA but will soon.

Change the battery yourself. Not difficult at all.

Get some better cables and leave it on for a while it will charge enough to start and then drive to an auto parts store and they will change it for you

Just get your boyfriend to change the battery. I'm sure he knows how. It's pretty easy

Changing the battery is the easiest thing you can do other than putting gas in

1) check manual/battery to see what type you need
2) hitch a ride to Walmart
3) buy said battery model
4) hitch ride back to POS car
5) change battery
6) drive

Get the battery tested before you replace it. It could be your alternator that is bad.

Beat me to it

What kind of father doesn't teach his children some of the easiest car maintenance??

Pathetic parenting

This.

Get the alternator checked if you can too. Although I don't know if they can test it while on the car.

I doubt your boyfriend's Prius has enough battery power to charge it.
