Anyone else order these books from those catalogs you got in school for the book fair or whatever tf it was?

Glad the Captain is getting a movie, idk why but his comic books got me back then.

Anyone else a Captain Underpants fan back in the day and what are your memories of those school "book fair catalog" things?

Captain underpants is the sole thing that links me back to book fairs in middle school. However, it was so underwhelming and overall just not really that good or memorable. I guess I was hoping for something along the lines of Calvin and Hobbes and it failed to deliver

My dad loved them. I think Captain Underpants resonated more with because it was during my time.

A very good comparison imo though.

Captain Underpants was great growing up. The books had a great structure, great characters, great pictures, and great humor. Something like that could have easily turned inappropriate, but they never crossed the line. What pissed me off about it though is after like the seventh book it started to take the author like 3-5 years to finish the next one. For a kid growing up, that amount of time felt like an eternity.

I'm happy they finally made the movie though. I feel like its been in development hell for years. I'll probably rent it at some point if the reviews for it turn out to be good/decent.

Spongebob Sqaurepants and Adventure Time come to mind when reading this post. I think making a story that's just as funny to a kid as an adult- and for different reasons sometimes- is a pretty impressive feat and it's why franchises like that thrive.

From the way they promo the first, it sounds like they're planning on multiple Captain Underpants movies.

Don't have kids but definitely may take my niece and nephew to.

Goosebumps movie sucked, I'm guessing the Captain Underpants movie being animated will automatically make it better for a movie if this genre.
