Cannabis smokers in their 30s have lungs so badly damaged that they look like an 80 year old’s, doctors have warned.
They say that young adults who have smoked cannabis for less than a decade are turning up at A&E with a severe, rapid and advanced form of the lung disease emphysema.
Some are in their 30s and in some cases their lungs are so badly damaged that they are put on long-term oxygen therapy.

Don't care. If smoking tobacco can still be legal and labelled as a personal choice, then weed can be too.

Especially now that they're making headway on developing tests to see if you're driving while stoned.

I see no paper referenced in that article.

I question its validity

Looks like this is really talking about people using tobacco instead of papers.

Simple solution

Eat/drink/vap it.

I would be surprised if inhaling smoke, of any kind, is nonharmful

It's not like marijuana is a gas. Would it really be surprising that inhaling particulates, any kind of particulates, for an extended period of time would be damaging to the lungs? Seems like a case for more brownies.

Da fuq?

quote:

Dr Damian Mckeon, a consultant in respiratory medicine at Ysbyty Gwynedd, who studied eight patients who had smoked at least five joints a day, said: ‘We are seeing young people on the wards with the lungs of 80 year olds after less than a decade of smoking cannabis and tobacco.

quote:

‘We urgently need a detailed study across the UK which analyses the national picture of cannabis-use and lung disease.’

Jesus, Daily Mail!

Can one of the stat people here remind me what a biased sample size of 8 can extrapolate to?

I agree, but to be fair, pot smokers don't usually smoke as much as tobacco users do.

Yeah, but is it as harmful as cigarettes or cigars? Does it really matter?

I don't think anyone is trying to pas this off as some sort of long term big, expansive study. Rather it sounds to me to be just the observations of some doctors who are seeing something of what appears to them to a growing trend in their patients.

LMAFO @ 5 joints a day. My god who smokes that many joints in 2014 almost 2015?

I have smoked maybe 1-2 joints in the last couple of years, hit a bong from time to time but now 90% of my smoking is with my CloudV Vape.

Most of the people I'm friends with all vape now for their weed smoking, sometimes hit a bong here and there.

I highly recommend this bad boy.

Scruffy definitely thinks that is statistically significant.
