Anyone following this story from The Advocate? Boosie concert at river center canceled due to threat of violence, black people getting upset because the order came from the mayor's office. They want to scream racism, but the Kipster is black too.

LINK

This is my favorite part of the article, comparing security for Boosie to Taylor Swift, I just don't understand how black minds work. As if there would really be a threat of gunfire at Tay Tay's show, I icould see it now a bunch of 10- 14 year old white girls packing heat looking for trouble at Taylor Swift concert. The only gunfire would probably come from a dad shooting himself in the head driving around a minivan full of screaming pre-teens.

quote:

Marcelle said she inquired to the Mayor’s Office about the reason the event was canceled and was told that a threat was made to Boosie’s life. “I was told they had a call that came in and it was a threat on Lil Boosie and there was going to be gunfire at the event,” she said. “Do I believe that? No.” Other parish officials also have made mention of the alleged threat, but the Baton Rouge Police Department has not confirmed that information, directing all questions to the Mayor’s Office. Marcelle said if someone had threatened Taylor Swift’s life at Bayou Country Superfest, the recent country music festival at LSU’s stadium, she has a hard time believing they would have canceled the entire concert series. Rather, she said, the city-parish could have responded with additional security and mandatory metal detectors if they saw fit, a suggestion Delgado recommended, as well.

Hillar Moore is still pissed he couldn't get Boosie on that murder charge. I bet he's behind all this.

Boosie has been boosie for years. They've known this, and They know the type of crowd that accompanies him to his shows...but this crowd is a little different but I could see how the riff raff could get in. Ultimately, It's a blow to the small black business owners that put this together and sale merchandise to it. While I agree with the "safety concerns" I think the city could have nipped this a long time ago instead of waiting until the last mintue to do so. It's pretty unethical to wait until a few days before the event, when several tickets had already been sold and purchased. I always wanted to go to that event. I heard it was fun back in the day. Heard it was a good clean fun time

It appears Boosie isn't as badazz as he would like us to believe.

What is so funny is that this event supposedly has not had any history of any incidents. That shouldn't surprise me too much when an event requires that you must wear either all black, or all white clothing. The local govt. here is coming up with stupid reasons to shut this down.

I've never heard of it being a problem either. I will say that Boosie being the headliner invites the inquiries into "security." Who has headlined it in the past couple of years? I've honestly lost track of it over the past few years

Several things at play here and none of them are "racist!" but that is what will get the most attention.

1. HORRIBLE decision to cancel this at the last minute by the Mayor's Office. Not saying it shouldn't be cancelled but it looks bad to do it three days before.

2. WORSE decision to cancel and then go mum on their reasoning. If they want to cancel it, then hold a press conference and lay out the reasoning.

3. LOL at the potential mayoral candidates all turning on Kip now that he is out and they want his job. Politicians are such a bunch of worthless shits.

4. LOL more at anyone saying Hillar had a hand in this. The threat was that someone was going to kill Boosie. You think that wouldn't be a win for Hillar? Terrence is dead AND Hillar gets to say "See? I told y'all he was a thug."

5. What pisses me off the most is that the City/Parish will end up paying off this production company with OUR MONEY. frick, that makes me mad.

6. The Mayor was screwed either way. Let this thing happen and a shoutout happens - Baton Rouge is national news as gang central. Cancel it and you get this. Hard call. Hell, go over the top with security and someone will call you racist for that too. There is no winning on this one.

But hey, #RACIST, #BLACKLIVESMATTER, #TRIGGERED!

They've never had a history of violence, but They've also never had Boosie performing at the event. An entertainer who has a history where violence seems to show up. The mayors office probably should have handles this better, but at least there isn't any possibility of someone getting hurt. What's worse having people mad because there was a shooting at the event or people mad that they canceled the event?

If this was well known, why not have some early game plan for security?

Allegedly... The threat was just made. But with the arse covering and people trying to curry favor in the community (mayor candidates / race baiters) plus the financial angle, who the frick knows now. Like I said, they should have held a press conference and laid everything out when the decision was made. Even I wouldn't believe them at this point. fricking clown shoes all the way around.

If it's anything like the Run DMC concert I went to, I'd find something else to do. Not fun when the folks behind me wanted to stab me for my GA seats. Trashy folks for sure.
