I'm moving in about 20 days and have an entertainment center with a few dings in it. It's a nice enough entertainment center/stand. If possible I'd like to salvage it and sand it down and stain it, if not stained anything that could save it. When I say a few dings I mean a few scratches here and there. Overall it's in good shape. Is it possible to do anything with it?

Don't think it can be stained. Can be painted.

What did you do to make her throw you out?

If it's just a few scratches, and it's veneered I'd just use one of those furniture touch up pens.

You don't want to take on sanding veneer with the potential to burn through it and most likely it won't take any stain well anyway

They make wax-like colors to match the fake woodgrain color. You just rub them over the scratches and it fills them in.

They are not a 100% fix but they are pretty good at making it so your eye does not catch them and you quit noticing them.

Definitely online from maybe Mohawk or at a hobby store.

You can replace the laminate on that portion of the furniture. Or there are filler pens and similar that you can cover the scratches mostly.

if your entertainment center came in an impossibly small box and you had to assemble it with the aid of instructions written in Chinese , when it gets scratched up just throw it away and go buy a $75 replacement for it.

Cool thanks. I figured sanding would be risky because I'd go right through the layer to the compressed particle board.
