There's around 40,000 homes in the LSU area that have taken on water and many are unsure what to rip out, what order to do things in, methods, what to salvage, etc.

agree with this request. I just went back 10 pages and read the 6 or so threads on this topic. some good info in those threads but another wouldn't hurt as I think there's some new questions.

I have a question, well multi part:

2200 sq ft house. paid 4200 for full demo and mold spray. demo includes everything-- tubs, all cabinets, everything removed pretty much etc. had a bunch of paneling so took all that out. sheetrock out half way (13 inches of water) no wood floors just taken down to slab...

Does that price sound right? That's about 2 per sq ft.

Next Question: Dude says he was licensed and insured. But I went to the state board site and shite was revoked in 2010 bec he didn't get continuing ed credits or some shite. Doesn't seem to be currently licensed bec not listed. What are ramifications?

Related question: Showed me what appears to be current GL insurance. I'm going to look at it closer tomorrow. What if he's really not insured or its insurance for wrong class of work? Ramifications?

He's got 3 adults and two, for lack of a better term, children (I guess his kids) working the job. It looks like its gonna take them about two days. Started today. Ok with that, except the kids on jobsite...

What a headache.

He's removing the tubs? Is that necessary?

No flood insurance by the way. also sucks.

ok that's some good news.

I will tell you I went back and read all the old threads-- there are some people that know their stuff on this site. Got a lot of good data to get me this far. but what a headache.

We are supposed to move the tubs too? Mine have tiles all around them that I just put in.

What about electrical? If your sockets were under and are working now, do you have to replace the electrical? How about toilets? Can we clean and re-use solid wood doors.

Please keep this thread on topic.

$2 a square is a very very good price. You pretty much explained why the cost of the job is such a cheap price.

2 dollars a sq ft is good. The adjuster today told me typical prices are 6-7 during storms and 4-5 during slow times.

My ancient electrical engineer grandpa says no, but he also said the AC would dry everything out.

Four days later, I finally convinced him to let me pull back the sheetrock. Standing water, disintegrating insulation, and mold.

I only had them remove tubs because it was wet behind there and they were build against the wall and also the tubs were really shitty and cracked anyway... hopefully some of the pro's from previous threads will come answer your q's. I can't-- I just erred on side of caution and said remove it all. probably not necessary with only 13" of water but frick it.

Doing the demo on my mother in law's house ourselves. She's gonna need to keep every penny she gets. 2500 sq foot on bottom floor. Water went up about a foot.i'm pretty sure we're gonna have to do the reno too.

Don't know about Microban, but Lowe's on Seigen has several pallets of Concrobian mold killer in stock as of today.

probably wouldn't be a bad idea to open a "Flood restoration" forum. I hate looking through a 300page thread trying to find info.
