My dog gets tired of the same old food and I switch it up all the time. Like one month Pro Plan, the next month, Blue, then Science Diet, etc. Is this a bad thing?

If you have a Neato, don't run it on auto.

That dog may have explosive shits if you keep changing it.

I do that as well. I read a while back it's not recommended because of their digestive system or they coats, some shite. I've been doing this for a couple months and both dogs have been fine.

He doesn't get the shits. He just seems to love a new flavor

Then your dog isn't hungry. Stupid.

If you quit jumping around they'll not eat for a day or two and then just stick with what you feed them. Your dog will not starve.

We change ours all the time. He's fine with it.

I'm sure it won't hurt the dog. We've tried a bunch of them. But I think switching up flavors on the same type would be a safer bet

Mix it well with the previous stuff, but as others have said, it still can lead to issues. And you are the master, why is he forcing you to buy new foods? Get him the vet recommended stuff for his breed, and leave it at that. Give them some wet food every now and again if you want to treat him.

Does he like steak too?

Maybe some fired chicken now and then? No shite? Wait, he likes wet cat-food? Maybe you should just feed him that all the time. Dogs know best, after all.

I've done it a couple time or if he is staying at my moms she will buy different food. He doesn't like change, takes him about a day to start eating it but he doesn't get the shits or anything.

We give our dog different flavors of the same food. Chicken & Rice, then Lamb & Rice, etc... If we switched brands like that, his stomach would be completely fricked.

my vet said 2 things that have always stuck with me:

1. buy purina dog chow or purina one. they've been making this shite for 100 years and fancier 'gourmet' or 'organic' dog foods have had more than their share of recalls and problems with nutrition.

2. don't ever change their diet or they'll get finicky.

its worked for me for 5+ years.

If you do, switch gradually, mixing the brands together in different proportions until they're 100% on the new brand. Otherwise, it gives them the shits.
