I'm not sure of this is the right board so appologies beforehand. I need to get a pool table moved from New Roads to Gonzales and setup/restored. Does anyone have any recomendations? Thanks.

My only recommendation is don't go cheap; go reliable.

I use to be a mover, don't go cheap. Random trash off craigslist will frick up your stuff. Pool tables need to be handle correctly

Do NOT use CraigsList. An acquantaince recently bought a very, very nice table from me and got some dudes off there that claimed to be experienced...
They showed up with a cattle trailer and a hand dolly. It got worse from there. I went over to see the assembled table the other day and they drove wood screws through the leather pockets and into the bumper boards to hold the pockets in place. I would beat the crap out of those guys if I could find them and it's not even my table anymore.

I had a pool table moved and set up by Big T about 6 months ago. The two guys moved it, changed the felt and installed it upstairs. They did a fantastic job. Everything was done safely, no damage and the table rolls true. I would highly recommend them.

Crusty, do you recall what they charged you for the work? I just emailed them requesting a quote. Here is a picture of the table. It is a Gandy. They are apparently American made and no longer in business. I wasn't planning on being in the market for another year or 2 but this one came up at a great price.

I bought mine from these guys and had them move it upstairs and set it up for me. very happy with their work. I believe they charge $350 for setup which i assume would be about the same for moving it.

It was somewhere between $300 and $350. I don't remember how much was the actual move and how much was the addition of the new felt. You can call them. They quoted me right over the phone.

Do you have a truck? It's pretty easy to do and will only cost you new felt and a couple hours.

I've used Big T twice and have no complaints about their service.

I would move it myself, unless its a really old 1 piece slate.
I moved mine about 10 years ago and still had to have someone come out and put new felt on and level it. It was about 300-350 way back then.

I do, but since this table is no longer made and parts are probably hard to come by I'd feel better if professionals moved and handled it. Big T quoted me $650 for the move and restore. I think that is fair.

quote:I had a 3-pc slate moved for $350 by the Billiard Factory here in Houston. The felt was in good shape and they recommended I keep it. Said if I wanted them to come out and have them re-felt it then it would be about another $200-$300. So yeah, if you're doing everything including a restore I would say anything in the $600 range is spot on.
