I agree with the idea and logic behind it. But I think it's absurd to tell a legal adult that they can't do something legal for all other adults. They did put in an exemption for active military, which makes it a double standard.

Someone 18 should be allowed to do anything that a 40 year old.

Not sure if it's been posted here, but I feel like this is old news......heard about it a couple weeks ago. I don't smoke but that's kind of bullshite. I wish we could detach Cali and let it float away

Because they're about to legalize marijuana and make an absolute killing

Wouldn't make much sense to be able to buy tobacco at 18 but have to be 21 to smoke cigarettes

I do smoke. And I am in favor of many measures. In all reality, I just assume they make it illegal. But age limits for adults pisses me off. Particularly alcohol age limits. It only takes people that some laws are socially acceptable to break, creating disrespect for the law.

weed should also be 18. But at this point, every smoker is just glad it's becoming legal.

They should let anybody smoke regardless of age. But cigs should be 37 dollars a pack.

To me, it's a states rights issue. California has decided upon this and you are free to disagree and not vote for those who would follow in California's footsteps.

Yeah, because people, or specifically addicts, won't do outlandish or illegal things to bypass a price hike, right?

Why does the government refuse to recognize the age nineteen or twenty?

Everything is either 18 or 21.

Is the smoking age 21 or just the age to purchase them? Here in Louisiana, the purchase age is 18, but it's not against the law for any age to smoke.
