When a cop approaches you at night with weapon drawn do not reach for your waist band. There is blame to share here, but the ultimate culprit was reaching for your waist band when cops have drawn.

If I were the cop, I would have shot as well. Suddenly lowering your hands into your pockets multiple times in this situation is a huge NO.

He had put his hands down, didn't seem to reach for anything. Actions didn't look sinister or dangerous to police.
If we can't trust police to make a good decision in a situation as simple as that they do not need to carry around a gun.

Lets remove that phrase all together, he was not reaching for his waist band, his hands were out to his sides and flared out from his body. He didn't reach to grab anything, he didn't go into his pockets. He brought his hands down from over his head, several times. Did not reach for anything any of those times though

The first angle is the one the cops saw, brings hat down covering the other hand and has it at his waist band hidden from view then jerks his hands back up. I guess in your opinion they should have waited for him to draw a weapon and fire before reacting? With two cops they should have tased him when he continued to not comply. I do not absolve the officers or the dispatcher who wrongfully put out a call for possibly armed burglary, when it was a simple bike theft. I feel there is blame to share by all.

If you were this cop, in this environment, you wouldn't have been nerve-wracked with someone doing those motions over and over again? It would take that guy a quarter second longer to reach into his pocket and pull out... Nothing. Or a knife. Or a gun. Rolling the dice on chances IMO.

The first cop to shoot was in NO danger. The fact that the thought of "ok, this man here must die and I'm going to shoot him now" entered his mind is one of the scariest things I've ever seen in my life.

No one said it was an easy job, the reason these people are dead is because the police officer was in a shoot first, think later mind frame though.
