YouTube Video

The cop was driving by a park where the kid was "stemming", which is apparently a coping mechanism for people with autism. The cop thought he was doing drugs, specifically an inhalant, and run up on him. The kid obviously got scared and tried to run and the cop took him down.

I am as back the blue as it gets, but this dipshit is a Grade A retard. As soon as the kid spoke you could tell he was autistic.

One could say

Both of them are

Edit: To all of the people correcting me, yes, I know. Autism has nothing to do with retardation. It's a joke. Sorry so many of you are on the spectrum.

Most cops in AZ, not working the South Phoenix area, are pretty fricking useless.

Unfortunate misunderstanding, but a pretty good outcome.

The cop didn't shoot anyone.

Conner, the autistic kid, handled the situation better than any BLM hero we have seen.

The friend/relative of Conner who rolled up on the scene remained calm and didn't escalate the situation with hysterics.

Probably a little scary for all involved but they all made it home for dinner unharmed, and the cop learned something about special needs kids.

Cops need to be trained to yell the difference between someone on drugs, and someone who is autistic. This mistake will probably, if it hasn't happened already, lead to an unnecessary police shooting.

Autistic people aren't retarded. They have just as much capacity to learn as ordinary people.

Pretty crazy that in 2017 a police officer doesn't know anything about autism. You'd think they'd get some basic training in recognizing these disorders.

This is just a flat out lie.

I'm sure it was scary for that poor kids and he did absolutely nothing wrong. But that cop did a really damn good job right there. Honest mistake that left nobody hurt and he de-escaleted it quickly and showed compassion.

Did they fight?

Did the kid "run"?

Did the kid get cuffed?

Didn't watch the whole video.

Cop was super aggressive barking orders and questions at a kid and then when the kid reacted the way most people would, he got put on the ground.

Cop is a power hungry piece of shite. If the cop SAW him doing drugs that is one thing...but just to accost someone in a park who isn't doing anything to anyone just because he's acting a little strange? Is that in itself illegal? I think a lot of cops immediately assume people are up to no good.

You don't know shite about anything, cops do what they do because they need to get home to their families at the end of the shift. Some times they need to rough up autistic kids and some times they have to kidnap and rape women, but you can't judge them cause you never served. You're a coward, how dare you judge the brave men of the police force.

The aunt or whoever the lady was handled this very calmly. Holy crap, I would have gone apeshite if that was my kid. The kid will probably be traumatized for life.
