The Baton Rouge Police Department is investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting that happened Tuesday night just after 11 p.m. The shooting happened on S Acadian Thwy. near Broussard just after 11 p.m. Tuesday, June 13. The East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner is on the scene. It appears the suspect's vehicle ran off the road somehow. Sources say no officers were injured in the incident.

Senior Tpr. Bryan Lee with LSP said officers with the Baton Rouge Police Department pulled over a vehicle and at some point, the passenger got out of the vehicle with a gun and was shot.

The East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner identified the suspect who died as Jordan Frazier, 35. He added Frazier died of multiple gunshot wounds.

Man killed during officer-involved shooting was out on bond for arrest during prior traffic stop
quote:

The man who was killed during a traffic stop by a Baton Rouge Police officer was out on bond for a recent arrest with similar circumstances to the shooting incident, according to court documents. Jordan Frazier, 35, was arrested on March 8, 2017 for possession with the intent to distribute MDMA. The drugs were allegedly discovered during a traffic stop that happened on the same road less than three miles away from where the shooting occurred. According to the probable cause report from that arrest, Frazier was driving in the 1900 block of N. Acadian W. when an officer with the Baton Rouge Police Department claims to have witnessed him driving without "lights illuminating its license plate." The officer conducted a traffic stop and allegedly asked Frazier for permission to search the vehicle. Frazier allegedly agreed to the search and the officer claims to have recovered a pill bottle with 58 MDMA pills in it.

quote:

Sources said there were two officers in the police unit that initially pulled over the vehicle. They said the driver is a trainee who just graduated from the police academy and his field training officer was with him. As the training officer walked up to the driver, state police said that's when Frazier jumped out of the vehicle with a gun pointed at the officer. Sourced added perhaps Frazier did not realize there was another officer in the police car. That officer reportedly shot Frazier multiple times.

Up on Cripple Creek she sends me

If I spring a leak she mends me

I don't have to speak she defends me

A drunkard's dream if I ever did see one

Prayers to the poor officer. You know he/she didn't clock in today expecting to have to shoot someone. I can't imagine all the shite weighing on their mind right now.

In case anyone wants an update:

State police took over the investigation since BRPD officer was involved. Hillar Moore on scene. That's about it so far per WAFB Graham Ulkins twitter.

Witness is now saying six shots were fired.

quote:

Neighbor Morgan Fontenot said she heard around six rapid shots from her apartment. Lee said other details of the shooting were still under investigation, but the state's Bureau of Investigation and Crime Lab will continue to work the scene. - The Advocate

WBRZ will have a live update from the scene at 5 a.m. on their morning show.

Baton Rouge's race and city divider:

quote:

Another person killed by police in Baton Rouge tonight. I just said in my FB live tonight that we were an incident away from another #AltonSterling. Alton would've turned 38 today. We don't know all the facts, but we do know too many murders are happening in this community on both sides of the badge.

Tip #2 Don't exit your vehicle while holding a gun when pulled over by law enforcement. These men and women in the black and blue are a better shot than you and the majority of the public that holds their gun sideways.
