They want those officers fired and arrested and the police chief punished.

Call me a cynic, but it sounds like Denise is attempting outflank Broome.

Where is the public show including the Bishop, the Sheriff, and members of both parties.

Agree. It would be a great time for Broome to step out of that shadow and lead in a civilized manner.

Like that's gonna happen!

If unity means appeasing people okay and happy about the state gunning down another one of its citizens, we have a long way to to go.

Her best measure would be to let people express their displeasure peacefully and nondestructively why expressing empathy and sympathy for those tired of police brutality and a crooked criminal justice system ... while issuing continued support and committment for our law enforcement agencies and agents.

Let the people know you feel their pain and let the cops know you support them.

We should expect ourselves to be better and more lawful citizens and we should expect and demand that our LEOs uphold the law, conduct lawful and fair investigations and hold themselves accountable.

That's all we can ask for

I honestly think yall are over exaggerating this thing.

And I honestly hope we are. The problem is we have seen how certain groups turn into a mob of animals in a flash. We know it is possible but pray it doesn't happen. I'd rather be prepared and nothing happen than caught off guard if it goes down. My mom still lives in the house I grew up in in Broadmoor about 3 blocks from the park on airline. I already have her coming stay at my house Tuesday night. Will something happen to her home, probably not but what does it hurt to plan ahead?

When you fight the police you will get screwed in the criminal justice system if you make it there. What part of that is difficult to understand.

The hundreds of thousands of good people in Baton Rouge that were lawfully going about there lives weren't subject to arrest or and so called brutality.

I would also bet that those same officers interacted with other persons breaking the law whatever their race, and they didn't get shot.

Don't fight the police. Simple.

I hope that I am. But it's in my nature. I am an operations manager and my job is to plan for the worst case scenario but work to avoid it and for the best possible outcome.

You POS troll

Therein lies the problem. It doesn't matter to them if Sterling was reaching for his gun. All that matters is that he was shot by white cops, so those cops and their chief need to be punished. That is their logic.

No, she needs to rise above and act like a mayor for all and mayor who won't all BR to become Baltimore. There is nothing good in having anarchists show up in town. CNN would love nothing more for us to have a riot. She needs to tell everyone they can have an opinion but there will be no violence and no disruptions provoking violence. BR is not open for other people's entertainment.

It is becoming increasingly apparent Broome needs to show some leadership and get out in front of Tuesday's report. She needs to gather leaders from all corners of the parish and make a display of unity, calm, and control. Her handlers may not like it, but Broome should also ask that all outside protest groups not travel to BR. She needs to go out of her way and help diffuse this situation.

She would obviously tell you to stay vigilant.

That's the problem- her words and actions have already shown that she's incapable of that. She's made it real clear that she thinks those cops are guilty and that the entire BRPD is racist and needs to be overhauled. So really, the only question is whether she's going to put her personal feelings aside and let the police DO THEIR JOB-just as they did last July, or is she going to go the Stephanie Rawlings-Blake/ Baltimore route and order police to "give them space to destroy and let them loot".

Hoping and praying for the former, but fully expecting the latter.

Good point about CNN. Its "good" tv as disgusting as it is. How about we hold our police accountable? in this current climate, with general sessions at the head of DOJ, we should never expect police to be held accountable.

I agree and that includes protesting. As long as its not violent and ruining the city
