I'm traveling overseas in 2017 and my flight doesn't serve alcohol for some unknown, terrible reason. I know it's illegal to drink your own alcohol on a plane, but are there any exceptions when the flight doesn't serve any booze?

Don't mention this idea to Spirit. They'll start charging a $200 corkage fee

You going to the middle east?

Buy in duty free in the terminal and just hide it in carryon. A couple friends of mine drank half a bottle of JWB en route to Europe and they were fine.

If you get black listed, though, I claim no responsibility.

I bring mini bottles all the time. TSA doesn't care. Be discreet and you won't have problems.

Why is it illegal to drink your own? I regularly bring along Crown in those stupid 3.5 ounce (or whatever) bottles they sell for transporting shampoo. I'll get Coke and ice on the plane, and I'm set for flying anywhere (usually to/from Houston/Los Angeles).

I was told by a commercial pilot it's 100% legal to drink your own alcohol on a plane, but it is just against airline policy.

Bring some vodka mini bottles carry on in liquids bag through security. Don't let the stewardess see you they frown on this practice..buy a couple ice teas or juice drinks and spike them prior to boarding.

I'm definitely going the mini bottle route. It just seems downright un-American to not allow drinking on an international flight.

I've gotten mini bottles through security with no issue several times. It's below the liquid oz limit.

Probably because they don't want to deal with belligerent drunks on an overseas flight, but by all means try to bring your own alcohol...

It's illegal bc the flight attendant is technically your bartender and is "responsible for the safety of all passengers." They're supposed to limit passengers intake if they drink too much.
