Bring in Professional Big Cat Trainers

So sick of the Vet School's song and dance about not making Mikebdo things he doesn't want to do. They need to admit that they are Vets and not animal trainers. All we need is for him to walk into a trailer. Does anyone really believe a professional big cat trainer could not train him to do this? The vet school is killing one of college football's greates traditions.

STFU......

Maybe you should go try to get him in the cage.

I'd be just has happy to let him chill out in his habitat. It's a different era, and hopefully a more enlightened one. Just be thankful we have him. Odds are he's the last one LSU will ever have.

Highly doubtful.

LSU received a lot of flak for getting him in the first place and LSU told them to pound sand.

Meh.

If kids want to see him, just go to his habitat before the game.

Interesting. I don't agree, but am curious as to why you would think this.

Oh, and as to the VET STUDENT who posted above you, thank you for making my point. I am I'll equipped to teach a tiger to get in a trailer....just like the Vet School is

IIRC, we kind of lucked out getting the current one. Tigers are extremely endangered worldwide, and in the near future, the ones in captivity will be under tight regulation and used for breeding to try to keep the species from going extinct.

I think it's wise to forego the parading around the stadium. Like I said, it's from another era. Mike doesn't like it. All we need is for him to injure himself or someone else during the festivities. Then you'll see s shitstorm.

PETA through a fit back in 07 when we got rosco. Bertman said in so many words "were LSU, we'll do what we want "

On a side note, that tiger lives better than 99.9% of humans. If they went to Africa to capture him and bring him to BR, I think that would be wrong. But he was born in captivity, and lives as well as any animal can.

If this Mike won't get in the cage, send his arse to a zoo and get one that will. The only job this Tiger has to do is get in a cage and be paraded around the field 7 days a year. Otherwise he lives a protected life in a habitat that far exceeds that of most zoos.

And for those who might belly-ache about that suggestion, it's not like LSU is going to India and snatching a wild tiger out of the jungle just to be a mascot, they're getting tigers who know nothing but living in captivity.

LSU won't be able to tell the US Fish & Wildlife Service to pound sand. Look, I'm glad we have him, but just enjoy it now, because nothing lasts forever.

Why would you go to Africa to catch a tiger?

I think I've read that the hybrid breeds like Mike aren't really endangered.

IIRC I saw on Animal Planet that more Tigers live in captivity in the US than in the wild.

Yeah, parading an apex predator around thousands of drunk morons in a cage is an awesome tradition.
