What ever happened to this project? Did it ever get voted on to move it and build other stuff on that land? If not when will it be discussed at BREC or Metro Council soon? And where is the most likely place it would move to?

They still have plans to move.

Yes they voted to pursue relocating it back in August, currently scouting potential site for it. I don't think they have a timetable on when they will decide.

They are going to form some committees, have some catered lunches and hire some outside firms to do some studies and write some reports.

Our clueless council wants to spend 200 million to move it to a different location. Meanwhile our roads are falling apart, drainage is fubarred and we can't pay law enforcement enough to get any new recruits. The lack of leadership and common sense in EBR is off the charts. Edwards and Broome are running neck and neck for worst politician of the century award.

BREC wants to move it
BREC has no money to move it, plus build something else to replace it in the current spot.

...then the people who live near the best location to put it are going to NIMBY the frick out of it. There are going to be people a little bit farther out in less developed areas who really, really want it because the see the opportunity to use it for economic development, but the people who just NIMBY'd the frick out of the original idea are going to shite all over moving it near the people who want it because it's too far out for the NIBMY fricks to get any of the associated tax revenues from gas/food/etc.
Then, they'll argue back and forth and nothing will happen and the zoo we have will continue to deteriorate.
It's the way of Louisiana and Baton Rouge. This state is so fricked.

Not In My Back Yard.
Learn it. Know it. Live it.
It explains so much about why this city's infrastructure is as fricked up as it is.
Everyone wants more thoroughfares to ease traffic, but nobody wants those thoroughfares running past their neighborhood, so any proposal to add through routes in developed areas gets shite all over. You sure as hell better believe, though, that while we will never build proper roads to support them, we sure as hell are going to still develop new neighborhoods that line the proper pockets.
Everyone wants a loop or a new bridge to alleviate through traffic in the metro area. Nobody in EBR wants to live next to it, so routes closer to the city get shite all over, but at the same time the city/parish doesn't want to lose tax revenues that travelers drop off in the area, so any route that goes through outlying parishes that want the extra traffic gets shite on because EBR isn't letting that money go away. So, we never get a loop.
It's the arse-backwards way we do things here.
