For those who were in BR when it happened, where were you?

My grandparents lived 5 min from the refinery and all their windows cracked, but didn't shatter.

In Pville. Shook everything really bad.

Grandmother saw it out her kitchen window while washing dishes, about 8 blocks away. Nothing broke, probably because the window glazing was old.

At my Grandparents as well, shook the house a bit, everyone thought it was a sonic boom.

I was at my grandparents' house near downtown Port Allen. I remember the house shaking, the lights flickering and hearing the boom. It was over in about a second. Closest thing I've ever experienced to an earthquake in South Louisiana.

In Watson at the time. All lights flickered a few times and a few seconds later it sounded like a plane crashed behind the house. Hell of an explosion.

I survived the IMC explosion.

It killed 8 people and hurt hundreds.
It was not pretty, I was in 9th grade and my brother was just deployed to the middle east for the Gulf War.

My first thought was that it was an attack on the plant.

Sure it has. 640,000 or so years ago was the last time. Got space trumped, though.

Was a kid watching TV at our old house off College Drive

Shook the entire house and made the power flicker.

Everyone in the neighborhood thought we had been attacked by Iraq or Russia
