My son is in 8th grade at a private school in Baton Rouge. He has been going to the school since pre-K and we planned to let him graduate from there. In the last year there have been many changes at the school so we have decided to leave and let him go to high school somewhere else. He has requested that we let him go somewhere else and we agree. We are trying to get into University High but that will be difficult. I am also going to apply to either BR High or the new Lee High (both magnet schools) as a back up plan. I am also considering other private schools in the area.

My son is a straight A student and has already taken the ACT in 8th grade. I am sure he will succeed wherever he goes. I would like the OT's feedback on BR High and the new Lee High.

Update...We received the acceptance letter to BRMHS today.

this is very anecdotal, but everyone I met at LSU that went to BR high were pretty damn good students.

BRHS is meant to be the premier school with Lee providing opportunities for students who were waitlisted/denied entry to BRHS to attend a quality public school.

I have a frind who teaches at Lee and she raves about the school but if it were my kid, I'd send them to BRHS if he/she were admitted to both.

So by requiring students apply to the school, accepting limited number based on scores and aptitude, then and placing them in classrooms with students on their level.... You're still polishing a terd? You're a re-terd gay bear.

Read up on the stats from somewhere ( I don't have them) but it's awfully hard for a private school kid(in br k-8) to get into BRHS. It's almost like the administration says "our schools weren't good enough for you before, so you can't have a spot now." They basically cater to BR public/charter school kids.
