BATON ROUGE - Police were alerted to an unusual case Tuesday after an angry customer threw a sandwich at a Pita Pit employee, claiming his order was wrong.
It was Tuesday afternoon when two women entered the restaurant on Sherwood Forest Boulevard and ordered three pita sandwiches. Employee Lucas Mehrtens, who's worked at Pita Pit for the past four years, says he served the women and went about his day.
But the pair soon walked back to the register and told Mehrtens the restaurant had gotten their order wrong. Mehrtens said he became suspicious when he asked them to return the food and they were reluctant to hand over the sandwiches.
"They weren't wrong," Mehrtens said. "And at that point I knew what was going on. They were just trying to scam free food from us."
Mehrtens said the women walked away with their "wrong" orders. But, a couple minutes later, a man who appeared to be friends with the women walked into Pita Pit and started yelling at Mehrtens.
"He just started squaring up on me, and told me if he had to come back in here it's gonna be a problem for me," Mehrtens said.
Surveillance video captured the entire confrontation, up until the moment the man throws the bag of food right at Mehrtens' head. However, the irate man missed his target.
"He said he played basketball for LSU... Must not be that good if he missed me from about 12 feet away," Mehrtens said.
The surveillance cameras didn't miss however, and they got a good look at the man before he marched out of the restaurant.
Mehrtens took the whole confrontation in stride.
"I'm not going to let something like that ruin my day," Mehrtens said. "That's ridiculous. That's crazy."
Workers were able to write down the tags on the trio's vehicle and pull the surveillance video from the scene. The incident was later reported to police.

If he watched the Tigers play last year, he would know that you didn't have to be very good.

Can ANY recent LSU basketball player hit a shite from 12 feet away?

I'm betting this was Ross Neltner acting out again

The real question is did they leave a tip, and how much.

It was black females initially. The black guy showed up later to knight for them. They ordered the food and then demanded their money back because the order was "wrong" but wouldn't give the food back. Then the guy threatened violence. That's what I call robbery.

If it happens on Sherwood, you already know.

This sounds out of character

Knowing how his attitude was, my money is on Jaime Lloreda. Plus, I don't think he could hit a shot from 12 feet away.

I wish we could send all these people to Hillary Clinton's neighborhood.

This guy seems a bit short to be Lloreda.
