The cheapest way? There's nothing " cheap" about ski vacations.

Maybe you should head down to Holly Beach instead.

if you want to go cheap, don't stay on the mountain, but in town

you will have to drive or ride a shuttle to the mountain everyday, which can be a huge hassle, but rooms will be cheaper

everything else will be marginal whether you book online or when you get there

also just depends on where you go

This. All day. Just a day of ski rentals for a family of four will make a grown man cry.

And, I second whoever said stay in town. It'll at least save you a little bit.

No shite, ski rental for adults, ski rental for kids, lift tickets, lessons for older kids, daycare for younger kids, lunch on mountain, beer on mountain, etc

knocking on 1k a day not including lodging and flights

If you only one to go to Colorado, then probably real expensive. If you look into Showdown, Montana, I guarantee you its the least expensive when it comes to skiing. Great fun and the best family atmosphere . YOu can also stay in White Sulphur Springs hot by and enjoy the Hot Springs. Definitely a lot less expensive than Colorado.

Try Park City Utah. Stay in town. Fly out of Dallas.

That's all I got.

I usually end up booking everything separately: hotel, rental car, flights, lift tickets, etc. As far as hotels and rental cars, you can usually get a decent deal on priceline express. I can help you find flights at the very least

If you plan on going to Vail and/or any of their other resorts (Breckenridge, Beaver Creek, Arapahoe Basin), then get the season Epic Local season pass. It's $579 and pays for itself once you ski 5 days.

It also includes Park City, Utah and Heavenly, Kirkwood, and Northstar at Tahoe

I get one every year for the Tahoe only resorts, but I'm getting the one for both this year.

It does have some restrictions

Join a ski club.

Even if there aren't any around you, do some Googling, and see if you can hook up with one going where you want to go; they'll often have 'ground only' packages where you provide your own transportation but you can piggyback on their lodging and lift ticket discounts.

I bought this pass for next season. I'll do a big trip to Park City, and try to squeeze in 2 or 3 shorter trips. Got some practice in March with a long weekend trip to Keystone. If you do it right you can get in 3 ski days and only miss 1 or 1.5 work days which is nice.

Regarding the season pass, they advertised that you can get a number of friends to buy their tickets through your season pass for a discounted rate. It didn't go into any detail beyond that, at least that I could see. Do you know what the discount is worth? I was going to use this to convince some more friends to come.

Be a man and book a week long Christmas ski vacation at Deer Valley. Let them handle all the logistics for you. I love Park City but I can afford Keystone.

We try to go later in the season and the rates are much better. If you fly up there, start using a miles friendly credit card pronto.
