Bleacher's Sports Bar & Grill to Replace Mahony's on West Chimes Street

Business Report
That last line is what will be the kiss of death for this place. No parking.

The owner of the Chimes Street building previously home to Mahony’s Irish Pub and Reginelli’s Pizza is reviving the space and opening a new sports bar concept.
Peter Losavio owns the 3,800-square-foot space at 124 W. Chimes St. nestled next to Highland Coffees. After months of trying to lease the property following the closure of Mahony’s earlier this year, Losavio has decided to renovate the space and open Bleachers Sports Bar & Grill.
Work began several months ago, and Losavio says he will open early next month. The bar and restaurant will be priced for students and offer free Wi-Fi, student discounts, “traditional Louisiana food” like po-boys, fried fish, fried chicken, burgers and beer, Losavio says.
The historic area set between LSU and the northern part of Highland Road connecting to downtown has proved to be a gold mine for institutions like The Chimes and Highland Coffees, which have garnered devoted followings over the years.
But many others—including Losavio’s former restaurants tenants—have struggled.
“Parking is an issue, however, that place has tremendous foot traffic. The challenge is when school is closed to attract other people,” Losavio says. “I think you have to be passionate about the business.”

Never been parking over there except across the street from the church or behind chimes and barely that. But a new sports bar will be interesting. It'll either be a hit or miss. Surprised some of the businesses on that small street are still around.

They need a parking garage over there. Pretty sure one was planned years ago and never went through.
Either that or bww, CVS, chimes and North gate association need to stop towing people.
This won't save you when school is out. People that don't live around there will not put up with looking for parking.

shite, there's enough of this in that area as it is. Someone needs to open a place serving plate lunches over that way.

When I was at LSU across from Louies there was a strip mall with a Surefresh grocery store and several other businesses and tons of parking at night. They overbuilt the north gates without much planning.

Plenty of parking there, but they tow. And they don't even let employees park there so they take up all the other areas.
I'm talking in the newish shopping center with bww and CVS.
And Louis is now the old Wendy's, they have more parking now than previously at the old spot.

Yeah, a new sports bar is JUST what this town needs.

Has anything moved into that old Gatti's back there?
Maybe that landowner would let them lease the parking lot. If that whole strip that faces campus gets together the individual contribution to the rent wouldn't be bad.

People don't put up with looking for parking when school is in session either. I still can't believe Barcadia closed their parking lot for some shitty patio area. Their personal lot was one of the biggest things going for them

they're gonna have to make their money during football season because no one will go there the rest of the year

shite, there's enough of this in that area as it is.
Isn't the business right next door that Geauxld Poboys place? If I'm eating in that kind of food in that area I'm going to Chimes and not even considering another place around there

It's cool I just frequent that area a lot.
And have delt with bww telling me I can't park in their empty lot if I don't go eat their shite food.

I just meant they will make it during fall with foot traffic. Other than that they will be dead the rest of the year and not be able to attract non students when it's not tailgating season.
I had been thinking though if some of those places can survive a few more years there will be more people in that area. They are building the water campus and they might keep building up the Aster area with nicer complexes. Idk though.
