Anyone been recently? Have a friend in town and would like to play there tomorrow. But I have read reviews that it is not being well maintained. Its about an hour drive there and would suck if the course was crap when we got there.

Update:
Played yesterday. Beautiful course. Was in great shape even after a week of hard rain. This is a long hitters course. And most importantly it is a long second shot course, which is what killed me.

They have new management now and all green side bunkers have been totally redone. Beautiful white sand bunkers. BUT, There are huge cavernous fairway bunkers that have not yet been resanded. The golf pro told us that they haven't started on those bunkers yet. And that they are considered ground under reapair and a free drop. You will be relieved that you didn't have to try and hit out of those bunkers.
I cannot urged u enough to try out this course.

What would suck would be making that drive and at best having the course completely saturated, if even open.

Have you checked the weather?

I played there back in August, in the middle of the summer drought so it was very dry and hard. The bunkers were unplayable, I believe they are going away from sand traps and just going with grass traps. The greens were surprisingly soft for how dry is was. I would say that my trip in August was NOT worth the price, but I still had fun...played terrible but that's not out of the ordinary for me.

If you are in West Monroe, then call Mystic Creek in El Dorado for a tee time. It is a much better course, but since they have a temporary building for a clubhouse right now, you can bring your own food and drink.

I had a friend play there a few months ago and he said it was in bad shape. He also mentioned the bunkers were pretty bad.

WTF? I got down voted for being honest?

FWIW I love BB, it's hard as hell to keep a course is great shape during a Louisiana August.

Oh it's real. Good...that's very debatable.

That is good to hear. From what I was told, it didn't sound much like a renovation. I played there a year after it opened and thought it was awesome, but haven't been back since. I'll have to see if my buddy has time to try it out again since he lives close by.

You are 1 hour from Black Bear in questionable shape, and likely swamped since it is flat.

You are 1.15 from Mystic Creek in El Dorado Mystic Creek

If they do like they did last year, Mystic charged you whatever the temperature was when you teed off, so go early!
