Birdwatching Information for someone looking to start (is this better?)

Thinking about getting into birdwatching. Anyone have any good sites/resources about it?
Any good places in Louisiana to start watching? Do I need to know anything before I go out there? Is birdwatching the right term, or is birding the more appropriate thing to call the activity?
Basically any information would be helpful. TIA.

Join the American Birding Association
Every June I head to Colorado for a convention for a few days. Great time meeting other bird watchers

I think Teague has a hawk that kills birds. Maybe you could hook up with him and watch that
