So last night I had my bike stolen. Someone cut the lock at our condo and drove off with it. So I spent a little bit with building security to look over all the footage and we found who stole it, a kid who works at a restaurant under the building. He has a fob to go in and out of the garage bc thats where all the commercial tenants park also. He happens to not have a car but still has a fob and the genius was wearing his work shirt while he rode off on my bike ...you have to go through security in/out unless you work at one of the restaurants downstairs you have a side door to the street you can exit from.
Anyways we know from the manager of the business that he's a 21 year old kid but the manager doesn't know how he's gonna get my bike back, so would you call the police and file a report or would you wait and see if the manager can do something???
I don't wanna have this kid arrested or something and ruin his record forever but the bike wasnt cheap and honestly I just want the bike, I dont care what happens to the kid. What would you do???

Grow up and get a real means of transportation.

no the bike wasn't locked
I'd tell the kid to give me my bike back and stand there while I punch him in the face... or I'll call the cops. Let him decide.

Confront the kid. Tell him you know that he took the bike and if he would like to keep from getting the police involved he needs to return it.

If he didn't want his record ruined he shouldn't have stolen a fricking bike.

He cut the lock and took the bike, thief gets what a thief deserves, if he didn't want the record he shouldn't have stolen the bike.

Give the manager a heads up that if the bike isn't returned, I'm calling the cops. If the manager gives two shites, he'd give the kid a heads up. If not, then that's that.
Kid obviously doesn't care about his record if he took the bike; he's old enough to know better.

I think authorities should be involved since this is not just a minor crime.

Turn him in. Today its a bike, tomorrow he murders someone and that blood is on your hands.

frick the police, it's not worth getting your dog shot. Just wait for the kid to come to work and tell him to bring your bike back with a new lock and you won't throw a beating his way.

Call the cops. If you let him go with it, he will just move on to bigger crimes. I hate a fricking thief.

Knock on the door and kindly ask for it back

How big a fella are ya? Why don't you personally tell the kid if he doesn't get your bike back, you're calling the cops. If he knows it's on video, I'm not sure he'd any choice but to return it if he hasn't sold it already.

This! frick that kid! Its not like he just "borrowed" it because it was sitting there unlocked, he had to plan on bringing bolt cutters with him to work and cut the lock with them!
