I've been looking for a simple security camera that I can keep inside. They have many out now with the basic motion detection, sd card storage space, cloud storage, remote pan/tilt, app to go with it, etc. Some of the few I looked at on Amazon and Best Buy are the Arlo and Arlo Q, Nest Cam, Drop Cam, Vimtag, HooToo, etc (there are so many). It's hard to get a good honest Amazon review, since so often now they "get the product for free or a a highly discounted price for their honest unbiased opinion." Any recommendations, opinions, or suggestions is greatly appreciated...thanks!

I've got a couple different models of foscam that have been in service for 1-3 years. They've been working great. One had a wal wart go out but I bought a replacement easily enough. They're easy enough to set up, secure, and use. Combined with CamViewer app on iphone so I don't have to use browser access.

I have an Arlo that I used outside for about a week. Motion detection is horrendous on that thing, so it is sitting inside facing a wall now. I got tired of having people walk by it with no motion detection, and then getting 70 notifications a day about a bird 100 yards away. Utterly useless

I use Blink. Great 1080P wireless cameras. Everything is done through the app.

I want one on my front porch. Neighbors have had a couple packages stolen from their front door during work hours. If that happens to me, I want to see the motherfricker who did it.

We have one for the front door but it doesn't stay on. Only use it during the day when expecting a package or someone knocks at the door.

No, It's just for home use security. One will be looking out the window to catch everything in the driveway and porch area and the other inside our home. Can never be too safe nowadays!

Yeah, with the way this country has gotten safer in just about every aspect every year for 50 years.

I'm just being a dick

But seriously, don't listen to sensationalism. This country is the safest it has ever been in modernity.

ETA:

But I'm still getting a camera on my front porch to catch a video of some fricker stealing my amazon packages while I'm at work.

Buy some real security cameras. Wifi indoor cameras are for checking in on the kids or the dog.

What difference is there in a "real security camera" and these? Not being a d*ck...just trying to figure out what else they can offer that these don't?

Reliability and picture quality for starters.

Trying to shoot an indoor camera through a window to protect the outside of your house is not going to be worth a damn.

I want one installed on the ceiling of my front porch I think.

One of those ones with red lights around it. Really lets frickers know they're on camera.

How much is one of those? Hardwired into my electrical system and motion activated recording?

I know most security dealers in the area charge about $250 a camera. Would still need to factor in a DVR and a power supply.

Motion cameras usually don't work through windows. If you want something reliable that actually works, you've got to go wired. Check amazon for good deals on solid setups

I got a couple of Ouvis off of Amazon and they are amazing for pic quality and features/app BUT the damn motion sensor only works with the lights on. If I turn the lights off and use the IR feature, the AC sets them off continually.

I really wish there was a fix for this because I love the cameras otherwise.

Amcrest - This one seems to be a popular choice

Sold on Amazon and appears to have Amazon support (cloud storage) and remote recording through an SD card. Pretty good reviews and picture quality is great it seems. Anyone have this one and can give an opinion on it?
