I fall asleep really hard and apparently snore really loud when I do. I don't hear anything but would rather not keep other people up.

Aside from losing weight, are there any products remedies that y'all have tried that work?

TIA

Don't sleep on your back and don't get drunk before bed may help but losing weight is really what you need to do if you want to stop it

So I should get drunk after bed?

I mean...that was probably one of the issues last night. We went through...4-5 bottles of wine so that may have done it.

My roommate in college shot a video of me snoring like a freight train while sleeping on my stomach. I weighed about 180 lbs at the time.

It has more to do with the length of your neck.

Tonsillectomy.

ETA: My brother has a 6 pack and snores like a frieght train. Weight has nothing to do with it.

Do a sleep study at your local hospital. That will give you the information you need to figure out what to do. There aredifferent solutions, depending on the cause of your snoring.

I used a CPAP for awhile; it was okay but the discomfort of the apparatus was more than I cared to deal with. You might find help with a simple face mask that helps keep your mouth shut when you sleep.

Ask your dentist too about the gadgets he has--they now have a sort of mouth guard that they claim is very effective in preventing snoring.

As for me, I just snore away now. I sleep alone with my bedroom door closed. That seems to work for the other members of my household.

Getting off my back stops me every time. My wife just pokes me and I'll roll over in my sleep without waking up

I'm sure it's happened before somewhere in this world, but I have never personally met anyone who's had a sleep study that did not have CPAP/BiPAP recommended.

Weight can cause snoring related to a type of apnea - it's called Pickwickian syndrome, from the Dickens character, Mr. Pickwick.

My neurologist said mine was just the result of the size and shape of my sinuses and air passageways, not my gut. Dodged a bullet there.

I told her just to pinch my nose if I started, but it was just too loud.
Kind of don't want it to effect things, or at least be tolerable

You won't believe how much better you'll feel with a snoreless night of sleep.

I've always snored. Fat or skinny. It just hasn't been a problem in a while since i wasn't keeping anyone else up. Now I'd like to not have dueling chainsaws chasing someone onto the couch.

Yes, from what I know--a fair amount, since I too was diagnosed with sleep apnea--the condition is not always due to a weight problem.

In my case I have a small mouth, which causes much of my snoring problem.

Another poster wrote that sleep studies almost always lead to using a CPAP. I'm sure that's true--that was the solution I was given. But as I wrote, the discomfort outweighed the benefits, so now I just snore away.

The doctor says I have severe sleep apnea, and that it could even lead to death. Well, at age 61 that proposition doesn't disturb me as much as it might have years ago.

I guess the thing to do is collect what information you can about your particular situation and try the different solutions. For me, doing nothing has, so far, been the best solution.

Try the mouthguard options. They take a little getting used to, but the wife won't let me get even close to falling asleep before she makes me put mine in.
