I have bouts of insomnia and find even when I do get a full nights sleep I am not feeling fully rested. Smoking a little pot a couple hours before bed knocks me out but makes me eat too much before bed. I have been reading a bit about ZMA as a sleep aid along with other health benefits. Anyone here use it or any other natural sleep aids? TIA

Don't you take all them pre-workouts and energy stuff for your big muskals? Maybe that causes it. I know a polar pop after 5pm wil do that to me.

That said.
one or two benadryl for allergies is a GREAT sleep aid for me. Works just like 3mg of Melatonin on me, which is another great sleepaid.

I don't have insomnia. When I have trouble sleeping, or need to sleep good through the night, i take Melatonin. Works great for me.

Very rarely. Maybe when I get free samples or get something on sale but it has been months.

It doesn't make you groggy? I take over the counter sleep aids sometimes but even just half of one makes me groggy in the morning.

Absolutely. Both aids I mentioned will make me groggy in morning or they make me wake up with that "frick this. it's so comfortable in bed. I'll just wanna stay here all morning" feeling. But knowing how that works after a few years, I do two things.
1. I don't take either aid past 10pm and
2. I make sure to brew some coffee for before work. That shakes it really well.

There are also "hgh" sprays and powder that help with sleep.

I'd combine the zma with something that had gaba, melatonin, and the amino acids arginine and ornithin

Is there a time-released melatonin?

I have no trouble falling asleep... it's the waking at 2 or 3 a.m. with mind spinning that costs me hours. Reading helps but I'd give anything for 7 or 8 hours of non-stop sleep.

I find that a little bourbon or a glass of red wine helps me sleep like a rock.

Alka Seltzer cold night formula is amazing. The effervescent tabs, not the capsules.

OTC sleep aids work fairly well. I also try to exercise pretty much every day. That's a biggie.

You might see a doctor if you have chronic (no pun intended) sleeping problems. You could have depression/anxiety issues ...there might be a more effective treatment for you.

For me as well - I just tried it this most recent bout and - maybe it is a placebo - but it has helped break the cycle. Some folks use it all the time. I can't agree with that, but for a few days/weeks to break the cycle, I'm a new believer.
