I personally like the lennox units best...have had one for several years now without an issue.

have to admit though, that the compressors are all basically the same and are generally manufactured in one of only a few plants nationwide...basically, a lot of different ac manufacturers use the same compressor units.

I think that given a decent quality unit, the biggest factor is the quality of work that the installer does.

I don't know if they still do but American Standard has a built in 10 year parts and labor warranty.

Yep. I have one. Best and most efficient a/c unit I've ever had. They are a bit pricey, but worth it in the amount you save on your electric bills every month.
