One may wish to listen to real music instead of musical noise though.

You're far away from what "the best" cost, but you can get phenomenal sound from what you're willing to spend. At your price range, I would likely wait for Sennheiser Momentum to go on sale and drop into your range. It happens not infrequently. And it stands now, they're $224 in the link, but do a little searching and up can probably find them cheaper.

I see this all the time. This isn't to call you out specifically, but when people ask for a headphone recommendation, why do people say "Bose," "Sennheiser," "audio technics," or "Sony?"
It's very close to someone saying "I would like to buy a car, what do you recommend?" And responding with "Ford," or "Chevrolet."

Is it typically because the OP lacks description and you purposely give a vague answer, are you wildly brand loyal, or something else? I've never quite put my finger on it.

But also, OP, the amount you're willing to spend also warrants a trip to a Best Buy with a Magnolia Center. They'll have a good selection of stuff in your range, and you can actually test before you buy. Though Sennheiser is well regarded by practically anyone who knows what they're talking about, you may prefer sound by some other brand.

If you really want to research, I just posted a link in a thread on the tech board to Head-Fi's over-and-on-ear buying guide. Search for that online or on here and give it a read if you'd like other people's opinions on the matter who are wildly knowledgable.

They most likely responded with a generic answer to a very generic question. OP didnt state any preferences such as over-ear/in-ear just "best headphones"

I have beats and I really like them. They sound amazing. The noise cancelling is better on Bose tho

Audio-Technica ATH-M50's.

These things have been one of the best purchases I ever made. Beautiful, crisp sound through all ranges.

I have owned both and would prefer the Bose QC15 everyday of the week. Better noise canceling and much crisper sound. You give a little in the bass but for what I listen to the difference is not very important. The construction on the Bose also feels far superior.
