A hot flame and a wire brush.

I did scrape with wire brush today and used a stainless steel cleaner. Got it mostly clean...I guess you'll never get it back to looking factory new

A little grease on there is good for it in the long term...weber doesn't recommend cleaning them extensively between use...

I typically just spray mine down with oven cleaner and rinse out the crud after it has soaked for an hour or two...

Thus is what I use and it works well. They even make a heavy duty version for grills.

Which oven cleaner? Do you spray it then turn on grill or let it soak cold?

I never want mine to look factory new. So much flavor and caramelization that can be transferred to whatever your cooking.

Get the grill super hot and it will turn to ash and flake off fairly easy. If you want to go allah akbar on it, hit it with a weed torch for about 20 seconds.

I typically use whatever is around the house...I typically get the one for hot ovens and heat the grill up just a bit (just warm, but not hot enough to sizzle water)...if you spray it on a really hot grill or turn the grill on while it is soaking, it just evaporates off...

spray it on the barely warm grill and let it set for an hour or so...

spray all of the crud out with a water hose and then fire the grill back up to dry it out...

fwiw, don't spray the oven cleaner on the outside of a stainless grill, or it may discolor it some...

B-52 Degreaser...cleans exterior better than anything. Don't worry about the inside.
