Kennebunkport has always been on my list... Good as advertised?

Grew up there. Great New England sea side town. Depending on what you're looking for, try Boothbay or Bar Harbor

I'd suggest Bar Harbor too. The Acadia National Park there. Growing up in the south myself I had seen many sandy beaches. Never hiked to the top of a mountain though and been surrounded by ocean.

NOT Hampton Beach, NH

Kennebunkport & Bar Harbor ME are both nice.

Hope you don't plan on swimming at any beach in New England though. That water is cold as shite year round.

This is absolutely true. That moment of truth when you're wading in. Especially in the Gulf of Maine. Very cold water. It is striper season though.

If you're into rainbows, go to Provincetown, MA

Newport, RI is one of my favorites though. Lots of history. Beautiful scenery

Mystic, CT is a decent stopover while driving on to other parts of NE. It features a small village with antique stores, Old Tall Ship, good restaurants.

Cape Cod is a must but beware that it can become very congested with tourists.

Just spent a week in Wellfleet. I suggest OP check out Provincetown.

Seriously though, check out Block Island. Block Island and Newport are 1a and 1b for me.

New England is beautiful actually. Beaches, mountains, you can't go wrong.

Used to go to Old Orchard Beach (ME) and watch Canadians drown, not much else to do.

Fun place but the water really is cold for southerners but it can get up to 95 to 100 in July and August so it will cool you off.

Maine is awesome.

My buddy had a place in Ogunquit. Very cool.
