Just picked up the city as part of sales territory. You would think with my OM degree I would be an expert on the city, but I'm not. I generally like to stay in a nice part of town where I can walk to a nice dinner and some decent draft beer. Or at least a very short drive to said area. I like popular walking areas.

Ridgeland or maybe Madison. Stay away from Jackson proper as much as possible.

Not going to find all of these options in Jackson.

Again, not in the city itself.

Madison, Flowood, or Ridgeland. Flowood would be the shortest drive, unless your work is on the northeast side of town, and it is a nice area; just not much (read, anything) to do after 8 pm. Ridgeland is next closest drive; look in to the Renaissance area. Madison is nice, but a little bit further out.

I lived in Jackson for 3 years.

I'd recommend living at the King Edward. It's a Hilton hotel property that doubles as a nice apartment complex on the top floors. It's very nice and located around the few nice spots in downtown Jackson.

That said, I wouldn't be walking around very far in downtown Jackson at night.

Also, people that recommend Ridgeland probably lived there as they have some adequate rental properties, but the hotels are garbage. The Hilton off County Line is atrocious.

Are there any hotels in Fondren? Also, I wouldn't walk around too far in that area at night.

Frankly, Jackson is not safe for white folk at this point. I have had decent luck and the new hotels toward Clinton. at 18/20.

I don't know of any hotels in Fondren. It's a residential area, and quite the interesting dynamic at that.

OP should forget about this walking around from hotel to bar idea. That just isn't a thing in Jackson.

No hotels in Fondren area I can think off. King Edward hotel is nice. It's in downtown Jackson. It has a bar in it and there are several bars downtown but I wouldn't be walking far at night downtown. The Marrot downtown is also nice.

Unless you're staying at the King Edward downtown, you're not going to find a lot of things within walking distance.

I don't recommend the Fondren District. It does have a Fondren After 5 thing, but it's not worth living in that neighborhood.

Flowood, Madison, Ridgeland, and Reservoir Brandon are all nice, but I can't think of a lot of things within walking distance.
