Before TOPS cuts, why would any LA kid attend a public LA school other than LSU?

I went to SELU because they gave me more money. I regret it.

There are some benefits in certain degrees and certain situations to go through a place like SELU or Tech instead of LSU

LSUs admission standards keep ULL and LA Tech in business.

Is LSU that much cheaper than other LA schools?

They're so low though. How many kids actually qualify for TOPS and can't get into LSU?

I think the majority of people who qualified for TOPS met the admission requirements for LSU.

TOPS doesn't cover everything.

Other schools will offer more scholarships, that cover room and board, meals, etc, to draw smart kids away from LSU.

The answer used to be football

Maybe they got offered a full scholarship to a different university in state or maybe its a little less at another university. Maybe driving to class on a daily basis would be better if they attended a university closer to home? maybe their career field has a better program at another instate school. . You guys act look LSU is a top flight academic school when in reality it is far from it . i gave you some good reasons why someone may not want to attend LSU. Other than football games i got nothing.

What kind of test scores does one need to get a significant scholarship from Tech or ULL?

I would think unless you're getting one of those, LSU is the best choice the vast majority of the time.

My daughter got into LSU today! A main reason is expense. If you live in Lafayette and got to UL then you could live at home to save money for example. Also, other schools in the state give way more money then LSU does. She could go to La Tech for free but it will still cost me to send her to LSU.

Other schools are easier. In the case of tech for engineering or ul for computer science, certain programs may be better
