becoming a cars salesman

Just fishing for opinions. I've worked sales for a couple of years, electronics (mostly phones) and I've done very well, but I'm thinking about taking a chance and trying to start a career in this business. I'm looking for opinions, experiences, advice. Please no trolls.

Try to sell your own car first for more than you bought it. Then buy another and do it again. If it works out, you'll do fine.

My granddad was a car salesman and did very well. He was always winning trips, etc for being the top man in his region. That said, it's a different world now. If you're good at sales, seems there are other fields more lucrative than automobiles.

Have fun sitting on your arse and being bored all fricking day. I've done car sales, and it's the single most miserable sales job on the planet. It's really a job you'll be bored to tears. Not trolling you, but you can make much more in many other sales jobs and have a lot more fun.

What will you do when you run out of friends and family to pester about buying a car?

Yeah, this is my point. I'm a much better salesman than the typical auto salesman. It used to be a good sale, but now pharma/medical sales and software/hardware sales are much more lucrative. I first did pharma and now I'm doing software/hardware sales where I make a whole lot more than I did selling cars. If you're actually a good salesman, trust me, you can do better than cars in this day and age. $350 per car isn't shite compared to what you can make in other types of sales.

A good salesperson can sell anything.

Days of making big money selling cars is gone. A few still can, but the average car salesman probably makes less than average money for hours worked.

What happened to the big money? Too much competition?

I'd rather you be a car salesman than a door to door pest control selling guy
good luck to you

If you are truly considering a career in sales, you should really think about taking a lower end outside sales role. Those intro roles blow and you may sell space in a graveyard but it teaches you how to look for customers. Trust me,there's more career money to be made finding customers than being able to sell the ones that come to you. If you can do that, you will always have a job...

Pay can be good. Hours and time away from family are terrible.
Do yourself a favor and stay away from the drugs that half of the salesman are on.
