It's going in Rouzan.

The Rouzan mixed-use development on Perkins Road is getting the first Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Louisiana, a theater chain that serves food, craft beers, cocktails and wine.

The theater is expected to begin construction next year and open in mid-2016. It will have seven screens and about 900 seats.

The theater will anchor Village Center, the commercial and retail center of the Rouzan development.

Sure we are. :roll eyes:

I'll believe it when it opens. This whole Rouzan thing is a complete mess.

I don't enjoy the cinema experience either, but a good beer might make it more tolerable.

Alamo Drafthouse
Fantastic business. Probably the only legitimate place to see a movie in BR, if this is built.

I hope it does well. Theaters tend to be ticking time bombs in BR though.

Congrats guys, you won't go to a regular theatre again. The food is good and a bucket of beer or a growler is just right for a movie.

They are hardcore on kicking people out also, so urban youth that use there phones will be out the door with a quickness. I've not been to a regular theatre since moving to Austin.

This is why I love them.

Their commercials are real voicemails from people who were kicked out of their theater.
Whisper to your friend? Getting kicked out.
Opened your phone to check the time? Bye.
Used your phone as a flashlight? frick you.

Leave your phone in the car. Heck maybe even your watch if it has a light or alarms. Don't say a fricking word. That's how movies should be. Finally a place that enforces it.

That's pretty awesome, but where exactly is this located? I'm not familiar with the location names mentioned.

Absolutely. It's a safe haven for those who can't stand the terrible patrons of the rave & perkins rowe. The rave's screens are fire but it's not worth going there because they don't have Alamo's rules.

Agree, but it all depends on the patrons. Get a bunch of arse hats or thugs hanging out and drinking and it will suck just as much as any other cinema. Keep it nice with a good clientele and it could be incredible.
I realize this isn't a sunburst of insight, but I'll be more than willing to participate if it's well managed. And I NEVER go to the cinema.

That's cool then

I would be afraid there will be a lot of drunken riff raff the whole time and it would ruin the whole experience

That said I hate watching movies drunk anyway (can't pay attention) so I dunno how cool this is anyway
